The Truth About Doing Anything
Truth #1:
Believe in yourself. This is something that no one can do for you. It simply has to come from you. Have you done something similar before? Then more than likely you have the bandwidth to do whatever it is that you are pursuing! Never tried it before? The first time you drove a car, or went on a date, or attended college…you never did that before either. How did it go?
Being your own cheerleader is an important ingredient in living the life you most desire. You are the single longest relationship you will ever have. Think about it…at the crossroads of joy and fulfillment and fear and being stuck, is the power of belief…the power of prayer…the power of something bigger and more vibrant in your life.
Truth #2:
Focus on the can. Channel gratitude. Being hard wired to focus on what cannot happen rather than on the possibilities of what can, may have you gravitating toward the “glass being half empty.” What if instead of “the glass being half empty or half full,” it was simply refillable? This is where gratitude comes in and keeps you grounded. Gratitude is a major player in positive thinking and in helping you to remain mindful of what you accomplish rather than all the things you cannot. Keep a gratitude journal or a success jar to record the good in your life consistantly. Think you can and you will move ahead. Awareness is the key here.
Truth #3:
Allow for growth. Growth involves celebration. Growth is the small steps toward the larger reward. Growth promotes research, change of plans, exploration, and living in the moment. Growth keeps you mindful of where you are on your own journey. Stepping into doing anything that you most want to achieve means allowing yourself to grow regardless of the end result. Growth is forward action.
Truth #4:
Create a vision. Can you see yourself doing what it is you are imagining? What does that look like? How does it make you feel? Visioning is a pathway toward accomplishing what you want. It allows in possibility and wonder. Visioning removes the how and the what if from achieving your goals and replaces it with the why and what you most want. Visioning keeps you playful and engaged, mindful and creative. Your visions combat your fears. In order to be it, you need to be able to see it, and to see past what is holding you back.
Truth #5
Start. Sounds simple right? If you don’t begin with one small step you never do. It does not matter if you are starting a business or yearning to travel. Wishing does not make things happen. Choice and action make things happen. Buy the sneakers. For those of you who follow my posts and workshops, I often speak about exercise as a go to element of change for people. Everyone thinks that in order to loose weight they need to join a gym. FIRST, you need to buy the sneakers. Then put them on. Then lace them up. Then wear them. Then go for a walk. Then take a class. When you wear out the sneakers a bit…then it is time to join the gym. Begin. Say yes.
